Content: Microeconomics is the study of one’s economic behavior who as consumer and producer. It explains which factors influence individual economic choices of various decision-makers operating as individual consumers and producers are coordinated by impersonal marker forces. Microeconomics also involves the study of the role of government as market regulator and provider of goods and services across the economy. The main contents include consumer choice and demand, the market system, elasticity of demand and supply, producer’s behavior, perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly, market failure, microeconomic policies and so on.

Content: This course is designed to expose students to the roles and importance of institutions (informal and formal rules and norms of behavior) and transaction costs in the organization, structure and development of economic activity by case teaching. Its main purpose is to improve students’ ability of explaining economic phenomenon. The course will expand upon the fundamental principles of neoclassical economic theory by relaxing traditional behavioral and informational assumptions and by introducing the importance of transaction costs for economic analysis. The material and structure of the course will encourage students to explore the core questions of how and why markets and firms arise, how transactions occur, and how different forms of organization affect the distribution of resources and goods and services in an industry, and the effects of different political systems and property rights arrangement on economic growth.
