I hope you are doing well. Here is something about Confucius, the philosopher after whom the Confucius Institutes are named. Born in a war-torn period, Confucius devoted himself to finding access to a harmonious society. He stressed personal and governmental morality, justice, kindness, and sincerity. Confucius is also credited with having edited many Chinese classic works. His ideas about strong family loyalty, ancestor worship, and respect of elders by their children have always been the core of Chinese culture. He has been honored as one of the most important figures in Chinese cultural history.
Best wishes!

W: Joe, could you give me a lift home this evening? My car is at the garage. M: I’d love to help you, but I promised to meet my brother at the airport after work. Tony goes your way, though. Why don’t you ask him? Text 4
M: Nancy, shall we go to the sports centre by car or by bus?
W: I think we should walk. Jamie. The traffic will be bad, and the walk will be good for us.
M: I suppose you’re right. It’s not that far. Text 5
M: I’ll see you outside the cinema at six o’clock.
W: Why can’t you meet me at the station? Or better still, the cafe? We’re going to eat there before the film, aren’t we?
M: Yes, but we need to be at the cinema at six to buy the tickets. Then we can go to the cafe. W: Oh,OK. Text 6
M: Have you got the newspaper there, honey? Can you read me the weather forecast for tomorrow? I hope it isn’t going to rain for our picnic lunch.

W: Yes, but the wind will get stronger through the day. Text 7

M: Really? Maybe you can come to spend it with my family. W: Can I?
M: My parents would be happy to have you. You will love it. Though we live downtown, we always spend the Dragon Boat Festival in our hometown. W: You mean in the countryside?
