Background information:

Students :35 Junior high school students, Grade 1

Lesson duration: 40minutes

Type of the lesson: vocabulary, speaking

Teaching objectives:

1.use the sentences about asking the physical state of people

2.speak simply to discuss the state of people

3.give brief suggestions according to health condition

Teaching contents:

Vocabulary ( health condition and physical state):

How do you feel today? Are you okay now? What’s your feeling?

Headache, fever, cough......I think you should have some water.

You’d better go to see a doctor. You can have a short rest.

New structure: How about -ing ...? (Function: making suggestions)

Teaching aids: tape, blackboard, chalk, ppt

Teaching procedures:

WARM-UP (5 mins):

a.Pretend that I have a headache today (touch my head, and shake it) b. I am not feel very well today, there is a big pain in my head.

c. Who can give me some help? (lead students to ask me and use the professional words)

STAGE 1, PRESTENTATION (approx. 15 mins)

a. Explain that I am all right today(^_^)

b. New vocabulary: headache, fever, cough, stomachache, sneeze, foot pain, toothache.....(pictures and words on ppt)

c. New structure (flash cards)

d. Listen to the tape, do the exercise on the book and check the answers

STAGE 2, PRACTICE (approx. 15 mins)

a. Divide all the students into 7 groups, each group has 5 students, one of each group pretends to have one kind of uncomfortable feeling, the other 4 students give their own suggestions.

b. Find the mistakes during the conversations.

c. Correct the mistakes

Homework (approx. 5 mins)

Write a dialogue to ask the health condition of your friends/family and give appropriate suggestions.

After Class Reflection:

The lesson went on well. Students were quite excited and motivated. But not enough time was given at the practice stage so some students still have difficulty giving suggestions. More practice and checking are needed for some students in the next lesson.
